The Path to Nurse Registry Licensure in Florida
Getting a Florida nurse registry licensed follows a clear sequence, but each step has details that trip applicants up. Here is what each stage involves and what AHCA expects.
Get Set Up
Before you apply
- Form your business entity
- Secure your office. AHCA requires proof of local zoning compliance with your application.
- Identify your Administrator, Alternate Administrator, and RN
- Read the statute, the rules, and the G-Tags
Build & File Your Application
Your application package
- Complete the application and addendum
- Complete your Proof of Financial Ability to Operate (filed with your application)
- Complete background screening. AHCA opens screening access after you file.
- Prepare your CEMP and submit it to your county health department (up to 90 days to review)
Get Survey-Ready
Before your initial survey
- Put policies, procedures, and forms in place for every G-Tag
- Assemble sample client and caregiver files
- Keep your CEMP on file and ready to show
- Make sure your Administrator and Alternate can explain your registry's practices
Your Initial Survey
Licensure decision
- AHCA must see your registry in compliance during the survey before a license is issued
- You may not begin operating until your license is issued
- AHCA approves or denies within 60 days of a complete application, which includes satisfactory survey results
DIY Kit members get the current AHCA forms, statutes, and regulation sets, linked and kept up to date, in their portal.
